“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
Home is a construct we build to make us feel safe, secure, comfortable and give us a sense of belonging. Some, especially in the small town I live in go as far as saying, that they’d never ever go somewhere else. I get arguments like: “We live in such a beautiful spot here on earth, why would I want to leave?” I see where they are coming from but I do not agree a hundred percent. In my opinion this has something to do with the comfort zone, which is great but nothing ever grows there.
Most of us love our homes. It holds all of our memories, our loved ones and we know what to expect. Although it is awesome to have a place that you can return to, there are also so many benefits of leaving and being out in the world for a while.
The most important benefit of leaving your home for a while is your personal development. You’ll learn something new, get to experience other ways of living and have to adapt to whatever comes your way. When your surroundings change and you are aware and observant you will change your thoughts about certain things, hopefully get smarter and have better ideas because of the new input you get. Humans love habits so it’s important to change things up a bit from time to time so you’ll grow as a person.
There is so much you don’t even know exists. No matter if it’s different personalities, natural wonders or simply unusual architecture that can amaze and inspire you. You’ll be surprised by what earth has to offer. Most people just follow the crowds and go to whatever has the best reviews online. If you’d dig a little bit deeper you’d see how many magical things there are to be experienced that make great stories and memories for a lifetime.
You’ll also be able to see how the world really works in certain areas. Even if you only go for a few days you’ll get hints of the different cultures and collective thinking that dominates there. Don’t let the media, school or other people create the perspective you have on the world. Go out there and make your own experiences!
These are all of my reasons why you shouldn’t just stay at home. Never forget, that life is an adventure.
