Hallstatt is a charming city in Upper Austria with less than 1,000 inhabitants.
One of its main attractions are the Ossuary and the small cemetery in the Catholic Church. It’s fascinating to see hundeds of painted skulls in a small chamber.
I’d recommend walking up the „Hallstätter Höhenweg“ which starts at the back of the cemetery and gives you a stunning view above the roofs of the city and ends at the Salzberg cable car.
What makes the city so special is the fact that it is surrounded by the mountains in the back and the lake in the front. There are also alot of cute local shops where I bought soap and salt. When walking through the narrow paths between the homes in the mountain I noticed that there were alot of tourists. Sadly I only got to spend a few hours in Hallstatt.
Please watch my short 1 minute video I filmed while visiting Hallstatt.
